Peter & Timothy Wed
On Saturday October 18th, 2008 Peter & Timothy were joined together on a beautiful sunny day in Gilford, NH overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. The renaissance themed affair took place at a private castle and was enjoyed by a small group of family and friends. We will be moving to Florida the end of the month, but fully intend on staying a part of the New Hampshire gay community. Blessed Be!

Civil Union TerminologyHouse minority leader Rep. David Hess is sponsoring an update bill to change the terminology used in the Civil Union Bill. Specifically, losing the words regarding making out of state gay marriages a civil union in New Hampshire and allowing them to be considered a full marriage as in their home state considers them. This would allow any future filings of persons who were married out of state to have the same rights in our state as they do at home. Why should we consider them different because they crossed a state line? That's like saying okay you can smoke at 18 in Massachusetts but not until you are 21 here. Double standards just don't work. Oh locals get one rate but out of staters get double the cost! ..Info obtained from Union Leader..

Gay Marriage Finally???When state lawmakers return to work in January (Three months off????? wow), they will have another chance to make things right. Rep Jim Splaine is putting in a same-sex marriage bill. He believes that it will be tough getting the votes but that we need to start the process to get full rights established. So far this year there have been 531 gay/lesbian civil unions compared to 6,685 marriages (we are at about 8% of state couples). There have been an additional 40 licenses issued but not completed yet - licenses are good for 90 days. "I think that what we really need is full marriage equality, with the word marriage, to make sure that people who are gay and lesbian residents are not discriminated against." Splaine said last week. ..Info obtained from Union Leader.. |
